Homemade Valentines
Nothing says love like homemade Valentine's Day cards and it's a great open ended craft to stimulate a child's creativity!
Materials:
- hearts (various sizes) cut from various coloured and pattern paper
- construction paper
- tape
- glue
- crayons or markers
- paper doilies
- stamps and stickers
- glitter, bling, pompoms
- Spread out all the materials on a covered table.
- Depending on your child's age, show some examples of how to make valentines: layer hearts one inside the other; add doilies for a lacy edge; decorate with stickers and/or glitter.
- Allow your child to randomly decorate hearts.
- They or you can then glue the decorated hearts piece of construction paper.
- Your child can add more designs to the background with markers and write a Valentine's message. You can add a photo for that special one to Grandma.
If you are creating Valentines to handout in class don't address the cards to specific children. Simply put "From (you child's name)" It saves you time writing them, saves time sorting them in class and you don't have to worry about missing a certain child or spelling their name wrong.
